# AI contract management agent with Grok Bot

Budi Voogt Nov 06, 2026

Copy for LLM

You can build an artificial intelligence (AI) contract management agent with Grok Bot in a few minutes. Say your signed hosting agreement with Brightwell Hosting, a fictional supplier, lands in your Drive folder. Your Bot imports it into Contracko, files it under Brightwell and tells you that notice is due by 1 February if you do not want it to renew. Contracko does the expert part: AI contract analysis of every document, the dates, the reminders and the risk review. The Bot does the legwork of finding contracts and keeping your contract repository current.

Grok Bot is an app from SpaceXSI for AI teammates that work on their own cloud computer. This guide adds Contracko with one click, creates a contract Bot and sets up routines that run on a schedule.

## Why your contracts deserve their own Bot

In Grok Bot, a Bot is a named AI teammate with its own job, conversation and memory. SpaceXSI's guide to Bots suggests a separate Bot when work has its own goal, sources and schedule [1]. Contract work has all three.

For a person, that Bot keeps track of subscriptions, the lease, the mortgage and the insurance policy. For a business, it acts like an in-house contract manager. It collects signed agreements, files them in the right place and flags missing details. It also tells you which notice dates are coming up.

The split of work is what makes AI contract management with a Bot reliable. Your Bot and the AI model behind it do not have to read contracts and extract terms. Contracko does the AI extraction and analysis itself: parties, dates, renewal terms, notice periods, values, liability, obligations and risk. The Bot does what a good assistant does:

- finds your documents on disk, in Google Drive or in your email
- uploads them to Contracko and checks when each import is done
- checks that each contract landed under the right contract type, and fixes the type and asks Contracko to read it again when it did not
- files contracts in the right folders and fills in missing counterparty details
- sets reminders, answers questions about your portfolio and tells you what needs attention

Contracko connects to your Bot through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for linking AI agents to apps. How the connection works is covered in [what a contract management MCP server is](https://contracko.com/blog/what-is-a-contract-management-mcp-server).

## What a contract Bot looks like

An illustrative exchange in Bot chat, with fictional companies and data. The files include a master services agreement (MSA) and a statement of work (SOW).

```
Import the contracts in our "Signed agreements" Drive folder into Contracko and file them by client.
```

| File | Contract type | Folder | Status |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Halvorsen Retail MSA.pdf | Master services agreement | Clients / Halvorsen | Imported |
| Tidewater Foods SOW 3.pdf | Statement of work | Clients / Tidewater | Imported, type changed from "Other" |
| Orchard Lane lease.pdf | Office lease | Facilities | Imported |
| Brightwell Hosting.docx | Software and hosting | Suppliers | Imported, liability uncapped |

The Bot adds that Tidewater's statement of work first landed as "Other", so it moved it to "Statement of work" and asked Contracko to analyse it again. It also flags that Brightwell's liability is uncapped and that the agreement auto-renews on 1 March, with notice due by 1 February.

## Set up your contract Bot in minutes

Grok Bot access comes first. According to SpaceXSI, it is included with the Premium, Super and Ultra tiers of The X Subscription. On a legacy Cursor plan, it comes with every paid individual plan and with Cursor Teams [1]. On a Cursor Teams plan, Grok Bot is on for every member by default, with no switch to turn it off, unless the team uses Privacy Mode (Legacy) or a legacy request-based plan. On Enterprise, an admin turns it on and can limit it to certain groups [1]. On both, your team's connector policy decides which apps members can connect, and a blocked app shows Disabled by team admin [1].

### Add Contracko with one click

Contracko is a public plugin in Grok Bot's catalog, so there is nothing to configure. Under the hood it is a Grok MCP connection. The plugin connects Grok Bot to the Contracko MCP server over the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI agents use to work with other software. Open the [Contracko plugin for Grok Bot](https://x.ai/bot/plugin/71395258) and choose Add to Grok Bot. You can also find it under Connect apps in the Grok Bot sidebar by searching for "Contracko". Then sign in to Contracko in your browser.

When Contracko asks what to allow, give the Bot the access it needs to do the job from the start: tick both Read and Write [5]. Without write access it can answer questions but cannot import, file or set reminders. Write access does let the Bot change your contracts, so the limits further down matter.

Contracko has two products, and your Bot needs only one:

- Contract management is your contract repository: contracts, dates, reminders, folders, analysis and reports. This is what your Bot uses, and it never spends Parser credits [6].
- Contracko Parser is a separate tool for processing documents in bulk without adding them to your repository. Your contract Bot does not need it.

### Create the Bot

1. Choose New Bot, the + button at the top of the Grok Bot sidebar. On a team, the + button opens a menu; choose Create a Bot.
2. In Create New Bot, type a name, such as "Contracts", pick a shape and colour for its picture, and choose Create.
3. In your first message, give it the job and ask it to remember it. For example: "You run our contracts in Contracko. Keep the repository complete, filed and up to date, and tell me what needs attention."

Then give it standing instructions. Copy this block into the chat and change it to suit you:

```
Remember these standing instructions for all contract work:
- You have read and write access to Contracko. Import, file, fix contract types and set reminders without asking me first.
- Before a bulk change, tell me how many contracts it touches and what it uses of my Contracko allowance, then wait for my OK.
- Quote the clause behind every finding about a contract.
- Never delete anything in Contracko, and never send contract details outside this chat unless I ask.
- If something looks wrong or you are unsure, stop and ask me.
- After each job, tell me what you changed and anything that failed.
```

Grok Bot's Auto Review is on by default and checks each action before it runs. Most actions run on their own, but some show an approval card in the chat. A card raised by a routine expires after 30 minutes without an answer, and the Bot does not take that action. If you turn Auto Review off, the Bot runs actions without checking them first [3]. On Enterprise, an admin can require Auto Review and add team rules [1]. Contracko also limits what any connected agent can do, as explained below.

Connectors are account-wide in Grok Bot, so your new Bot can use Contracko straight away [3].

### Give your Bot the Contracko skill

A skill is a set of instructions that teaches an agent how to use a tool well. The Contracko plugin brings Contracko's skill with it, so your Bot already knows how to import, file, check types and review dates. The skill is also published in Contracko's open [skills library](https://github.com/contracko/contracko-skills), as one skill called contracko, for any other agent you use. The skill has the Bot confirm every bulk change and its allowance cost before it starts [6].

## Build a contract repository with tracking

A contract repository with tracking is where the Bot earns its place. Every agreement sits in one workspace, with dates and reminders that keep running after the chat ends. If the idea is new to you, start with [what a contract repository is](https://contracko.com/blog/contract-repository-guide).

### Bring every contract in

Ask the Bot to find your contracts and bring them in. It can search files on its computer, and the Google Drive and Gmail apps if you connect them under Connect apps [3]. A company Google account may need its Google admin to approve Grok before those apps can connect.

```
Find every signed contract in my Drive and in my email from the last three years. Import them into Contracko, wait until each import is done, and give me a list of anything that failed.
```

The Bot uploads each file and checks until the import finishes. Contracko reads each document and creates the contract record, matched to an existing or new counterparty. Go through the list of failed imports, and check the dates on the contracts that matter most. The full workflow is in [how to import and organise contracts with MCP](https://contracko.com/blog/extract-contract-data-with-mcp).

### Contracko knows what to extract

Contract tracking depends on the right fields. When a contract comes in, Contracko extracts its dates, parties and contract type [5]. Its AI analysis of each contract covers risks, obligations, gaps, liability and termination terms [4]. Contract types can also carry their own fields, such as licence counts for software; the next step covers how those get filled.

The nuances are where spreadsheets fail. An end date alone does not tell you whether a contract renews. Contracko records auto-renewal and the renewal period separately, and tracks the termination notice as a set period before the end date. The details are in [contract dates and auto-renewals](https://contracko.com/docs/contract-dates).

### Check types and folders

This is the part people skip, and the Bot does it for you:

```
Check that every contract imported today has the right contract type. Fix any that are wrong and ask Contracko to read them again. Then file each one in the right client or supplier folder, and list any proposed field changes I need to approve.
```

When the Bot changes a contract's type, it can ask Contracko to re-read the document against that type's fields, so a lease ends up with lease terms rather than generic ones. Contracko proposes the new values, and the saved fields change only after you approve them [6].

### Reminders and your calendar

Once the dates are in, set reminders across the whole contract repository in one message:

```
Set a reminder 14 days before the notice deadline of every contract that auto-renews.
```

The reminders live in Contracko, so they fire even if nobody opens Grok Bot that week. More prompts for this job are in [contract renewal reminders with MCP](https://contracko.com/blog/contract-renewal-reminders-with-mcp).

Contracko's [calendar feed](https://contracko.com/features/calendar-integration) puts start, end and notice dates and reminders into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. You subscribe once: open Calendar in Contracko, copy the feed address and add it to your calendar app. The [calendar setup guide](https://contracko.com/docs/calendar-integration) has the steps.

## AI contract analysis for any agreement

AI contract analysis here means a plain answer about one agreement: what it commits you to, which dates matter, how money moves and what is unusual. Contracko has already analysed the contract, so the Bot answers from that analysis and can search the document for the sentence behind each point. Ask it to say so when it cannot find one.

```
Summarise the Kestrel Payroll subscription in five lines, with the term, the notice period and the price rules.
```

```
What does the Orchard Lane lease make us responsible for when we move out?
```

An illustrative answer to the first prompt, with fictional data:

| Point | What Contracko found | Clause |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Term | 12 months from 1 March, renews yearly | "This Agreement renews for successive 12-month terms." |
| Notice | 60 days before renewal, in writing | "Either party may terminate on 60 days' written notice before the renewal date." |
| Unusual | Fees can rise up to 8% at each renewal | "Kestrel may increase the Fees by up to 8% on each renewal." |

The chat-assistant version of this job is in [AI contract review with MCP](https://contracko.com/blog/ai-contract-review-with-mcp).

## AI contract review for risk and obligations

AI contract review across the portfolio asks the same questions of every agreement at once. Where are we exposed? What do we owe, to whom and by when?

```
Which supplier agreements have uncapped liability or one-sided indemnities? Rank them by renewal date.
```

```
List everything we owe under our contracts in the next 90 days: deliverables, payments, reports and notices.
```

An illustrative findings table for the second prompt, with fictional data:

| Obligation | Owed to | Due |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Quarterly security report | Halvorsen Retail | 15 January |
| Insurance certificate renewal | Orchard Lane landlord | 31 January |
| Written notice of any price change | Tidewater Foods | 30 days before the change |

The Bot reads Contracko's risk and obligations analysis for each contract and quotes the clause, so you can check the wording before you act. For the wider discipline, see [contract risk management](https://contracko.com/glossary/contract-risk-management).

## Reports your team actually reads

Contracko's [reporting dashboard](https://contracko.com/docs/reporting) is built from the data in your account and stays live as contracts change. Filter it by contract type, status, counterparty or timeframe, then choose Share link to share that exact view. Anyone with the link can open it, even without access to the contracts themselves, so send it only where those numbers belong.

Your Bot answers the same questions in chat, straight from Contracko:

```
List every contract renewing next quarter, grouped by contract type, with the annual value and the notice date of each.
```

A share link keeps the filters it was made with, so create a new one when you change them.

## Five workflows to run on a routine

A routine tells a Bot when to run a job on its own. In Grok Bot, a routine can run on a schedule or start when something happens, such as a Slack message or an email to your Bot [2]. Event triggers come from integrations on your Cursor account and may need their own connection. Copy a prompt below into your contract Bot's chat and it sets up the routine. Change the folder names, times and channels to yours.

### Onboard everything once

Connect Google Drive and Gmail under Connect apps first.

```
Find every signed contract in my Google Drive and my Gmail attachments. Import each one into Contracko and wait until every import has finished. Check that each contract has the right contract type; fix any that are wrong and ask Contracko to read them again. File each contract in a folder per client, supplier or household category. When you are done, send me a summary: how many you imported, what you filed where, any proposed field changes I need to approve and anything you could not import.
```

### Watch a folder for new contracts

```
Set up a routine that runs every weekday at 07:00. Check the Google Drive folder "Signed agreements" for files added since the last run. Import each new file into Contracko, wait for the import to finish, check the contract type and file it in the right folder. Post a one-line summary in this chat, or nothing if there were no new files.
```

### Catch signed contracts in your inbox

The Bot first searches your mailbox once, in chat, and should ask before a bulk import. A bulk job in a routine can wait for your approval, and an unanswered card expires after 30 minutes [3]. A new routine waits for its next scheduled time [2]. From then on, it picks up each new signed contract from DocuSign, Adobe Sign, PandaDoc or a similar tool and enriches the counterparty from the email thread.

```
First, search my Gmail for completed signature emails from DocuSign, Adobe Sign, PandaDoc and similar tools, and for signed contracts sent as attachments. Import every signed contract you find into Contracko that is not already there. Then set up a routine that runs every day at 18:00 and does the same for emails received since the last run. For each new contract, add the counterparty's contact person, email and role from the email thread to the counterparty in Contracko. Tell me what you imported, and list anything you skipped, were unsure about, found already in Contracko or could not import.
```

### Get a weekly deadline digest

```
Set up a routine for every Monday at 08:00. List every contract with a notice deadline or end date in the next 60 days, with the date and what I need to decide. Add any contract imported last week that has no end date or no contract type. Post it in this chat.
```

### Share reports with your team

Grok Bot's Slack app posts as the Slack user you connected, in channels that user can post in [3]. Create the report's share link in Contracko first, then give it to the Bot:

```
Set up a routine for the first weekday of each month at 09:00. List all contracts renewing in the next quarter, grouped by contract type, with the annual value. Post a two-line summary of what changed since last month in our #legal Slack channel, with this Contracko report link: [share link]
```

Where a routine shows Test, try it first with safe inputs; a test run performs real work [2]. If it has no Test, ask the Bot to do the same job once in chat and check its first scheduled run. Routines run on the Bot's cloud computer, so they keep working with your laptop closed.

## What your Bot can and cannot do

Your Bot acts as you, inside the workspace you chose when you signed in, and can never reach a contract you cannot open yourself. Everything it creates or changes is labelled as coming from MCP in Contracko's activity history, so you can see what it did [4].

It cannot delete your contracts. Contracko's MCP server has no tool to delete a contract, a document, a folder, a counterparty or a contract type. Deleting those happens only in the Contracko app. The only things a connected agent can remove are the custom dates and reminders it manages.

Write access still means a misread instruction can change the wrong record. Read the Bot's summary after each job, and check the activity history when something looks off.

You can disconnect the Bot at any time in Contracko under Settings, then Integrations, then MCP Connections [5]. The [MCP server documentation](https://contracko.com/docs/mcp-server) covers the rest.

One caveat is specific to Grok Bot. All your Bots share one cloud computer, with its files and logins, so a contract downloaded for one Bot is visible to every Bot on your account [3]. Keep contracts in Contracko rather than on the Bot's computer.

Contracko does not train models on your contracts [4]. Grok Bot is a separate provider, and its training settings follow your Cursor account, so turn on Privacy Mode before you connect real contracts [3].

## Why a connection beats pasting

A Bot with no connection knows only the documents it was last given, and cannot tell a signed amendment from an old draft. Through Contracko MCP, it works from the current records, dates and analysis every time. That is what lets a Monday routine report on today's portfolio instead of last month's upload.

## Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Grok Bot to a contract management MCP server?

Open the Contracko plugin in Grok Bot's catalog, choose Add to Grok Bot and sign in to Contracko in your browser. Grok MCP support handles the connection, so there is no code or server address to configure.

Can I try free AI contract review before setting up the agent?

Yes. Contracko's [free AI contract review](https://contracko.com/tools/contract-review) tool checks a single document. It is separate from the agent, which works inside your Contracko account.

How do businesses track contract renewal dates automatically?

Put every contract in a contract repository that knows each renewal and notice date, then let reminders do the remembering. With Grok Bot and Contracko, the Bot imports the contracts, Contracko extracts the dates and sets the reminders, and a weekly routine sends you what is coming up.

Does the Bot use Parser credits?

No. Your contract Bot uses Contracko's contract management tools, which never spend Parser credits [6]. Parser is a separate product for bulk document processing.

Which plan do I need for Grok Bot?

A plan that includes Grok Bot, such as Premium, Super or Ultra on The X Subscription, or a paid legacy Cursor plan. Plans change, so check SpaceXSI's overview before you buy. Contracko includes its MCP server in every plan at no extra cost [4].

Is my contract data used to train AI models?

Not by Contracko. On the Grok Bot side, training follows your Cursor account and privacy settings, so check them before you connect real contracts.
