# Share contracts externally

Copy for LLM

External sharing lets you send a contract and its documents to someone outside your organization—a freelancer, lawyer, or other collaborator—without paying for an extra seat or giving them access to anything else in your account.

## How to generate a share link

1. Open the contract you want to share
2. Click the ellipses menu (⋯) at the top of the contract
3. Select Share externally
4. Configure the link: Expiration — 1, 7, or 28 days Permissions — view only, or view and download One-time access — invalidate the link after the first visit
5. Click Generate link

The link is copied to your clipboard automatically. Send it via email, Slack, or any channel.

## What the recipient sees

When the recipient opens the link, they see a clean, read-only view of the contract with:

- A summary of the contract's key details
- The attached documents, available to download if you allowed it

They don't need a Contracko account, and they can't see anything else in your organization.

## Live updates

If you update the contract's metadata or documents after sharing the link, the changes are reflected for the recipient instantly. You don't need to generate a new link.

## Link security

- Links expire automatically based on the duration you set
- One-time access links are invalidated as soon as the recipient opens them
- Recipients can never edit, comment, or see other contracts in your organization

## Tips

Use one-time access for sensitive contracts — If you're sending a confidential contract for a single review, enable one-time access so the link can't be reshared or revisited.

Match expiration to the use case — A 1-day link is enough for a quick lawyer review. Use 28 days when a freelancer needs reference access through a longer project.
