Reminder guidance for this contract type
An influencer deal is a chain of short deadlines, not one date
Influencer agreements look simple but run on a tight, sequential timeline. A draft is due for brand approval, approval comes back (or stalls), the post has to go live inside a contracted window, the content stays up for a minimum dwell time, and payment is tied to hitting each step. Every link has a deadline, and missing one usually cascades: a late draft compresses the approval window, a late approval threatens the go-live date, and a missed go-live can void the payment or trigger a kill fee. Tracking the campaign as a single delivery date misses the structure that actually governs it. Useful reminders sit on the draft, the approval, the go-live, and the minimum-dwell removal date separately.
Usage rights and exclusivity are time-boxed assets
Two clauses outlive the post itself. The usage-license clause lets the brand keep running the content (organic reposts, paid whitelisting, ads) for a defined term and on defined channels, after which the right lapses unless renewed and re-paid. The exclusivity clause bars the creator from competing brands or categories for a set window. Both are dated rights with real money behind them: a brand that keeps boosting a post past the license term is using content it no longer pays for, and a creator who signs a competing deal inside the exclusivity window risks breach. Tracking the license expiry and the exclusivity end date keeps both sides on the right side of the contract.
