Why notice periods are deceptively dangerous
A notice period looks simple on paper — 30, 60, 90, or 180 days before some other date. In practice, the math is rarely that clean. Notice periods can run on calendar days or business days. They can require a specific delivery method (certified mail, signed receipt, a named contact). They can be tied to a date that's itself buried in an order form or amendment. The last safe day to act is what matters, not the notice period itself. A useful notice reminder calculates that date from the source clause and shows the clause text alongside it so the responsible owner can verify the method too.
